POLICE NAB FOUR ALLEGED KIDNAPPERS IN ONDO STATE

The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended four suspected members of a kidnapping ring linked to criminal activities in the Ilu-Abo area of Akure North Local Government Area.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday in Akure by the Ondo State Police Command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh.
Jimoh disclosed that one of the suspects, identified as Abenaguna Muhammad, was intercepted by vigilant residents of the Ilu-Abo community while allegedly in possession of suspected criminal charms.
According to him, the suspect was apprehended on Thursday, January 29, 2026, following actionable intelligence and was subsequently handed over to police operatives for further investigation.
He said further investigation and interrogation of the initial suspect led to the arrest of three other members of the alleged kidnapping syndicate.

Jimoh disclosed that the suspect confessed to belonging to a criminal gang operating along the Ala–Ilu-Abo axis and claimed involvement in the recent violent attack and abduction in the area. He added that the suspect identified the group’s leader as one Lanre, popularly known as “Lanre Tomato,” alongside two other accomplices, identified as Ojo and Pius.
The police spokesperson recalled that on January 25, 2026, armed assailants attacked the Ilu-Abo community, shooting one resident, abducting another and injuring two others—an incident that triggered intensified security surveillance across the area.
Jimoh stated that the suspects remain in police custody as investigations into the incident continue.
