The Anambra State Government has begun converting the old Government House into the permanent location of the Solution Innovation District.
The old Government House previously functioned as the state’s administrative headquarters before official activities were relocated to the new Government House, popularly known as the “Light House,” following its inauguration in June 2025.
The facility will now serve as the Solution Innovation District—a hub bringing together innovators, inventors, technologists, social entrepreneurs, tech firms, government agencies, investors, digital communities, and skilled artisans focused on developing solutions to local and global challenges.
Speaking during an on-the-spot inspection on Sunday, Governor Chukwuma Soludo said the Solution Innovation District, covering between 12 and 13 hectares, is being developed to rival the infrastructure and productivity of Silicon Valley, marking a major transformation in the state’s urban landscape.
The governor said he embarked on the inspection because the project aligns with his administration’s core philosophy of “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere.”
According to him, the hands-on approach will ensure the project remains on track to deliver a permanent home for the state’s growing population of developers, engineers and entrepreneurs.
He said, “I embarked on this on-the-spot inspection because the ambitious project aligns with the administration’s core philosophy of ‘Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere.’
“By centralising innovation within a dedicated physical space, the government aims to integrate digital solutions into every facet of the local economy and governance.
“The construction is currently in its first phase, with a high-intensity work schedule aimed at completing the initial structures within the next few weeks, as assured by the contractors.
“A follow-up visit has also been scheduled for the end of the month to monitor milestones. This hands-on approach ensures that the project remains on track to meet its goal of providing a permanent home for the state’s growing population of developers, engineers and entrepreneurs.”
Soludo noted that the swift progress of the project underscores the urgency of moving the state’s digital ecosystem from temporary facilities to a permanent, world-class headquarters.
The media reported in August 2025 that the Anambra State Government, through the Solution Innovation District, launched the “1 Million Anambra Digital Tribe” initiative, which aims to train one million residents in digital skills free of charge.
The programme is designed to drive socio-economic growth, develop a skilled digital workforce, and establish Anambra State as a leading hub for digital innovation and creativity in Nigeria.
