Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has stirred debate after calling for capital punishment for rapists.

According to the media, Nigeria is currently facing a surge in sexual assault cases, with numerous rape allegations emerging across the country in recent weeks.

On Tuesday night, Simi took to X to urge citizens and authorities to take stronger action against sexual violence targeting women.

“I’m sickkk of this. Stop raping women. They need to castrate rapists and burn them,” she wrote in a passionate post.

Her call for extreme punishments sparked discussions online, with some arguing that similar measures should be considered for those making false rape allegations.

Simi clarified that her stance was solely in support of actual rape victims, not individuals involved in false accusations, which intensified the debate.

Addressing criticism from some male fans, the singer emphasized that her advocacy stems from personal experiences, noting that nearly all the women she knows have endured sexual assault at some point in their lives.

She argued that false accusations should not prevent people from speaking out against sexual assault.

“How many of your friends have actually assaulted women? Women are scared to go out. They’re not even safe in their own homes. Ask your sisters, your female friends, your girlfriends, your wives. We’re not all crazy. Stop raping women,” she emphasized.

Simi also called on men to hold each other accountable, highlighting that the culture enabling rapists persists because many men fail to confront and correct the behavior of their peers.
