Governor Umar Namadi has approved a reduction in official working hours for civil servants in Jigawa State during the 2026 Ramadan fasting period.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, and released to journalists by Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse, Public Relations Officer, Office of the Head of the Civil Service, Jigawa State.

According to the statement, civil servants will now close at 3:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, instead of the usual 5:00 p.m., with work commencing at 9:00 a.m. on those days.

On Fridays, official working hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., consistent with the current arrangement.

Alhaji Dagaceri explained that the adjustment is intended to ease the burden on workers during the fasting period, giving them sufficient time to prepare for iftar and fully engage in the spiritual observances of Ramadan.

He expressed hope that civil servants would use the holy month to pray for divine guidance and the sustained development of the state.

The statement also encouraged workers to offer prayers for peace, stability, and economic prosperity in both Jigawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
