The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Umuahia North successfully conducted its ward congresses across Abia State on Wednesday in a peaceful and well-organized exercise.
Speaking at the event, Emmanuel Goar, Chairman of the APC Ward and Local Government Congress Committee, assured that the committee would strictly follow the harmonisation directive and hold transparent, credible congresses that reflect the will of party stakeholders.
Goar led a delegation from the party’s National Working Committee to monitor the congresses, while officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present across the wards to observe the proceedings.
After the exercise, Goar expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct and organization of the congresses, noting that the high level of participation and enthusiasm from members demonstrated the party’s growing strength in the state.
“With what I have seen on the ground, I have no doubt that Abia State is APC. With the dedication of members today, the party is well-positioned to secure a massive victory for President Tinubu in 2027,” he stated.
Stanley Ohajuruka also praised party members for their strong turnout and thanked the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and other stakeholders for ensuring a smooth and credible congress. He congratulated those elected in their respective wards and reminded them of their responsibilities as grassroots leaders.

According to Ohajuruka, ward executives play a critical role in the party’s success and must work diligently to secure victories for APC candidates, including President Tinubu, at the ward level in the 2027 elections.
The ward congresses mark a significant step in the party’s internal democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections. The process will continue on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with Local Government Congresses held across Abia State.
Before the ward congresses, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu reiterated that APC adopted the harmonisation approach for its ward and local government congresses to strengthen unity and cohesion within the party. Addressing party faithful at the Renewed Hope Partners office in Umuahia, he explained that harmonisation promotes inclusiveness and ensures all stakeholders feel involved in the selection of leaders from the ward to the state level.
“APC belongs to every member; no one individual owns the party. Harmonisation gives everyone a sense of belonging and importance in selecting leaders, from ward to state level,” Kalu said.
He added that any deviations or parallel processes that could cause conflict were addressed swiftly by the party’s National Chairman and the National Working Committee, following the directives of President Bola Tinubu. Kalu noted that this resolution paved the way for his return to Abia to oversee the implementation of the agreed harmonised congresses, ensuring that party ownership remains with grassroots members.
