The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately recognise the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC), following an Oyo State High Court ruling validating the party’s 2025 National Convention.

In a statement by Obinna Nwachukwu, CP-PDP described Justice Ladiran Akintola’s judgment as a landmark victory for justice and internal party democracy, noting that it should resolve lingering leadership disputes within the PDP and compel all relevant institutions to comply.

The group highlighted the court’s declaratory order affirming the legality of the November 15–16, 2025 National Convention, stating:

“The court ruled that the 2025 National Convention of the PDP was valid and binding. This decision must be respected and implemented by INEC and all authorities required to engage with the PDP, including the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, other security agencies, media, election observers, and democratic institutions.”

CP-PDP demanded that INEC immediately recognise the Turaki-led NWC as the legitimate party leadership and restrict all official correspondence to this committee. The group also called on the Police to unseal the PDP National Secretariats in Abuja—Wadata Plaza and Legacy House—granting the Turaki-led NWC access to manage party affairs while ensuring their security under the Constitution.

The statement praised the judiciary for upholding the convention and reinforcing the principle that a political party’s internal processes are supreme, as affirmed by the Supreme Court.
