Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Lagos as “embarrassing” for All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in the state and vowed to secure a decisive victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, on Tuesday at the Annual Lagos APC Ramadan Public Lecture in Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu urged party members and the public to start preparations early for the 2027 polls, emphasizing voter registration and active participation as key to electoral success.

“Don’t let things be like last time. We all must get our PVCs because what happened then was not good enough, and we are still ashamed of it. We must equip ourselves with our Personal Voter Cards ahead of next year’s elections,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu stressed that the continuation of the current federal administration’s achievements depends heavily on securing President Tinubu’s re-election.

Also addressing attendees, Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, represented by Muyideen Daromola, encouraged Muslim faithful to sustain the virtues cultivated during Ramadan.

“You have all seen God’s intervention in different aspects of your life during Ramadan. To continue enjoying His blessings, you must maintain the holy life demonstrated during this period,” he said. Ojelabi noted three types of participants during Ramadan: those who begin but do not finish, those who drop midway, and those who complete it to the end.

Islamic scholar and Head of Mission, Nadwat Global Assembly, Abdulrahman Lawal, delivered the lecture titled “Maintaining Our Spirituality after Ramadan.” He urged attendees to continue the discipline of Ramadan beyond fasting, highlighting the month’s benefits for health, spiritual closeness to God, and overall wellbeing.

Lawal recommended practices such as periodic fasting, keeping righteous company, and regular self-evaluation to sustain spiritual growth. He concluded with prayers for Nigeria, Lagos State, and President Tinubu, calling for peace, stability, and continued national progress.
