Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has opened up about how his father opposed his decision to pursue a career in music.
Speaking in a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the Sungba crooner revealed that he left his father’s house at the age of 15 after being discouraged from following his passion.
He said, “The father who gave birth to me, he’s more stubborn than I am. So I couldn’t look him in the face. We were close when I was younger, but I came to a point when I wanted to leave home to do what I am doing now, but my father said no. But I just took off regardless. I was 15 then, focused on where I was going. And there was nothing anybody could tell me”.

Despite the disagreement, the singer emphasised that his love for his father remains unchanged, stressing that nothing could affect their bond.
“Even if he points a gun at me, till eternity he will always be my dad, and I will still show him the same love,” he added.
Asake also noted that he holds both his parents in high esteem.
The singer recently made headlines after gifting his mother a car during Ramadan and presenting his father with a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, according to videos circulating online.
This comes amid past controversies involving his father, Fatai Ololade, who had publicly appealed for financial assistance due to declining health.
In March 2025, his father, Malo, a stroke survivor, went viral after making an emotional appeal for help, accusing the singer of neglect despite his success.
The situation escalated when Asake’s alleged baby mama, Adijat, also claimed that the singer had neglected her and their daughter, Zeenat, despite her support during his early days.
The claims triggered widespread reactions online, with fans and some celebrities urging the artiste to reconcile with his family.
However, reports later indicated that Asake reached out to resolve the issues, with his father confirming in a follow-up video that the singer had agreed to cover his medical expenses, support his daughter, and provide him with a new house.
