POLICE ARREST 27-YEAR-OLD WOMAN OVER ALLEGED N10.1M SHOPLIFTING IN KATSINA MALL

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old woman, Hadiza Ibrahim, for allegedly stealing goods valued at over ₦10.1 million from a shopping mall in Katsina metropolis.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, following a report filed on March 4, 2026, by the Chief Security Officer of the Green House shopping mall.
According to the police, the suspect, described as a notorious shoplifter operating within marketing environments in the state, was captured on the mall’s CCTV cameras while allegedly stealing various items from a shop. Further analysis of the footage enabled operatives to monitor and apprehend her at the scene.
A subsequent search of her residence led to the recovery of items worth over ₦10 million. Recovered exhibits include 74 sets of shoes, 37 pairs of veils, 67 sets of sportswear, 54 children’s outfits, 123 pairs of caps, 315 sets of socks, 45 wrappers, nine handbags, three cartons of spaghetti, 24 bottles of perfumes, five cartons of soap, as well as fashion jewellery and cooking seasonings.
Police said the items have since been identified by their owners, while additional victims were traced during the course of the investigation. The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and has been charged to court for prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in the state commended officers for their swift response and urged business owners to remain vigilant. He also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
