Personnel of the 177 Guards Battalion, operating from the Masaka Patrol Base, successfully foiled an attempted armed robbery at Mallam Nura Estate in the Angwan Tanko-Karu area of Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
According to security sources, the incident occurred at about 2:50 a.m. on April 5, 2026, when troops on routine night patrol responded promptly to a distress call reporting an ongoing robbery within the estate.
On arrival, the soldiers engaged the suspected robbers in a brief confrontation, forcing them to abandon the operation and flee the scene.
Following the intervention, security operatives secured the area and maintained a visible presence across the estate to reassure residents and deter any further criminal activity.
Authorities also confirmed that efforts are underway to track down the fleeing suspects, while patrols have been intensified across vulnerable communities in the Karu axis to prevent similar incidents.
