ONE DEAD, FOUR INJURED AS TOYOTA HIGHLANDER COLLIDES WITH TRUCK ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

A driver has died and four passengers sustained injuries after a Toyota Highlander rammed into a truck along the Lifemate axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday morning.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) confirmed the incident. Babatunde Akinbiyi, TRACE’s Head of Media and Publicity, said the accident occurred at approximately 7 a.m.
According to Akinbiyi, the crash involved a white Toyota Highlander Jeep (number plate ABC 836 EF) and a DAF truck (number plate DTF 997 XA) loaded with cocoa. Eyewitnesses reported that the Highlander collided with the rear of the moving truck.
“According to an eyewitness account, the Toyota Highlander Jeep ran into and underneath the rear of the moving DAF truck,” Akinbiyi stated.
The DAF truck had three adult male occupants, while the Highlander carried five adult males. The driver of the Highlander was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other four passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Authorities have called for cautious driving along the expressway and investigations into the exact cause of the crash are ongoing.
