The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to hold a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting today, Monday, at its Abuja headquarters, following the reopening of the party secretariat last week.

The MEDIA recalls that the headquarters was sealed in November last year after a violent confrontation between the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee and the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led caretaker committee, both of whom laid claim to the party’s leadership.

In March, an Appeal Court ruling nullified the Ibadan convention that produced the Turaki-led leadership. The Abdulrahman-led faction, which has strong backing from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, subsequently relied on the judgment to proceed with a convention in Abuja.

The meeting scheduled for today is expected to bring together all members of the NEC aligned with the Mohammed-led faction of the PDP, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, among others.
