Less than 24 hours after stepping down as Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu arrived in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday.

Videos circulating on social media, including clips shared by Emiralty Africa, showed the former minister dressed in blue traditional attire, stepping into a busy road to help control traffic.

Adelabu was seen directing vehicles while greeting supporters and passersby who gathered around him.

The scene reportedly took place shortly after his arrival at Ladoke Akintola International Airport, where a crowd of supporters had gathered to welcome him.

Speaking to journalists shortly after, Adelabu reflected on his time in office, expressing satisfaction with his contributions.

“I have seen, and I have conquered,” he said, adding that he believes he gave his best in overseeing one of Nigeria’s critical sectors and contributing to national development.

His return comes a day after he formally resigned from his ministerial role.

In a letter to President Bola Tinubu, Adelabu explained that his resignation was to enable him pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State.

Although he stated that his exit would officially take effect on April 30, 2026, to allow for a smooth handover at the Ministry of Power, his swift return to Ibadan indicates that his political activities may already be underway.
