BREAKING: BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU BACKS OBAFEMI HAMZAT AS FAVORED SUCCESSOR FOR 2027

Babajide Sanwo-Olu has endorsed his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, as his preferred successor for the 2027 governorship election in the state.

The endorsement was made after a closed-door meeting held at Lagos House, Marina, where Hamzat formally declared his intention to contest for the governorship position before members of the State Executive Council and key party leaders.

The meeting also had in attendance members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, including former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, Ganiyu Solomon, and other prominent figures.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the endorsement was a unanimous decision by stakeholders present, adding that Obafemi Hamzat is well-prepared and capable of leading the state.

He explained that Hamzat, accompanied by a strong delegation of state leaders, had formally informed them of his intention to contest for the governorship seat.

According to him, all attendees agreed that the deputy governor is qualified for the role, noting that he is familiar with the workings of government.

Sanwo-Olu also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, stating that the president played a key role in his political emergence as well as in his working relationship with Hamzat.
