The Ogun State Security Network Agency, also called the Amotekun Corps, caught five people suspected of kidnapping in a forest near the Rounder area of the Abeokuta North local government area during a planned security operation.

The arrests were made after a combination of actionable intelligence and sustained surveillance activities within the forest, which has recently drawn concern from nearby communities over security threats.

A trusted insider from the group, who asked to stay unnamed, shared that the operation started with the arrest of two people on April 29 around 8 p.m. The first big step came thanks to local hunters who know the area very well.

The source said that security teams then worked harder and caught three more suspects about thirteen hours later, in another operation in the same forest area.

They also said the operation was started because people living nearby had been reporting strange activity and seeing unknown people hiding in the woods.

The people arrested are thought to be Fulani herdsmen and had been watched for some time before the operation, which allowed for a planned and organized way to catch them.

Confirming this, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Command, said the suspects have been given to the police for more investigation.

He also mentioned that the police are now quietly looking into how much the suspects were involved in kidnappings and other crimes in the area.

Security agencies in the state have told the public they are fully committed to keeping people safe and their property secure.
They also stressed that working together with local groups and official security teams is very important in fighting crime.

Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, as efforts continue to rid the state of criminal elements.
