Suspected armed bandits have abducted three members of the same family after invading a residential estate in the Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State.

The incident occurred on Monday night when the gunmen stormed Ipojo Golden Estate in the Oke-Eri area, reportedly numbering about 15 and armed with sophisticated weapons.

According to reports, the attackers gained forceful entry into the residence around 7 p.m., ransacked the building and whisked away the victims before escaping from the area.

The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, who said tactical and intelligence-led operations had been intensified to rescue the victims and apprehend the suspects.

“The Ogun State Police Command is aware of the incident at Ipojo Golden Estate, Oke-Eri, Ijebu-Ode, and has intensified tactical and intelligence operations to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators,” he said.

He assured residents that the command remains committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, urging members of the public to remain calm and vigilant.

The head of the affected family, Yesiru Badewa, said he was not at home when the incident occurred and expressed deep concern over the safety of the abducted relatives.

He noted that one of the victims was ill at the time of the abduction, raising fears over her condition in captivity.

“This has devastated us. One of those abducted is sick, and we are worried her condition may deteriorate in captivity. We appeal to the authorities and kind-hearted Nigerians to come to our aid,” he said.

Security agencies are continuing search-and-rescue operations in surrounding communities as efforts intensify to secure the release of the victims and track down the armed assailants.
