A two-year-old child believed to have been abducted has been rescued by police operatives in Warri, Delta State, and safely reunited with the family.

The Media learnt that officers attached to the Quick Response Squad, Warri, carried out the rescue operation on May 10, 2026, around 7:15 pm, while also preventing an angry mob from lynching a suspect at Igbudu Market in Warri.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Fejiro Obaduemu of Idesor Street, Isi Layout, Warri, was reportedly intercepted by residents after he was seen allegedly carrying the child inside a sack bag, which raised suspicions of child theft.

According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, officers swiftly arrived at the scene before the suspect could be attacked by the mob.

“Operatives of the QRS quickly responded, rescued both the suspect and the child, and evacuated them from the scene,” Edafe said in a statement issued to journalists in Warri on Wednesday.
