FIFA PRESIDENT CONFIDENT OF “UNFORGETTABLE” 2026 WORLD CUP EXPERIENCE

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has said preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup are progressing well, expressing confidence that the tournament will deliver an “unforgettable experience” for football fans around the world.
The competition will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, with less than a month remaining before kick-off in the expanded 104-match format.
In a statement published on FIFA’s official website on Thursday, Infantino said preparations were advancing smoothly and excitement was steadily building ahead of the tournament.
He noted that all 16 host cities are working intensively to ensure readiness, with fan festivals and public viewing centres being set up across the three host nations.

According to him, government officials, city leaders, and local organisers are fully engaged in delivering a seamless global event experience for supporters.
The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 11 in Mexico City, where the hosts will face South Africa in the opening match.
Infantino added that stadium upgrades, pitch installations, and logistics planning are in their final stages as the host countries work in close coordination.
He also highlighted several fan engagement initiatives, including activities linked to Fanatics Fest in New York, which will host pre-final events and a press conference ahead of the tournament’s conclusion.
In addition, he revealed that the 2026 World Cup final will feature a halftime show developed in partnership with Global Citizen, designed to promote global education awareness.
With millions expected to attend matches and billions more watching worldwide, Infantino described the upcoming tournament as one of the most ambitious in football history.
