Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections in the state.
His emergence was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by his former Press Secretary, Aminu Abubakar.
Dan’iya, who previously served under former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters for the confidence placed in him. He described his selection as a significant responsibility and pledged to promote unity, stability, and development in Sokoto State.
He also commended Tambuwal for his support and political mentorship, noting that the backing from party stakeholders, youth groups, women, and political associates reflects a shared vision for the state’s future.
According to him, the ADC platform is committed to inclusive leadership, good governance, and people-centred policies ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
He urged supporters to remain peaceful and united as consultations continue ahead of the elections.
Reports indicate that about 10 aspirants had initially shown interest in the ADC ticket, including former Ambassador to Jordan, Faruk Malami Yabo.
