The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, alongside other serving and former governors, as state coordinators and collation officers for its presidential primary election across various states.

The party also confirmed that it will adopt a direct primary system, allowing all registered members nationwide to participate in the exercise.

According to a statement issued by the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, the direct primaries are scheduled to take place in all 8,809 wards across the country on May 24, 2026.

Other governors were likewise assigned as coordinators for their respective states.

The statement noted that the coordination and collation of results in each of the 36 states and the FCT would be handled by designated state coordinators and collation officers, who will aggregate results from local governments and submit them to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja on May 24, 2026.

It further explained that earlier guidelines on direct and consensus primaries, contained in a document sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dated May 15, 2026, would still apply “mutatis mutandis,” according to the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
