Meet Boko Haram Hunter who Kills for a Living

Since time immemorial, hunters have roamed the forests and savannahs of Africa looking for animals to kill for food and commercial purposes.
Fast-forward to the 21st century, the animals have disappeared and the hunters are left with no other game to kill apart from the Boko Haram Rebels. With little or no money, hunters improvise locally manufactured weapons to fight these terrorists.
Boko Haram, whose name roughly translates to “Western education is forbidden”, has waged a 10-year armed campaign to create an Islamic state in northeastern Nigeria.
The terrorist group ranked amongst the deadliest in the world, has killed tens of thousands, displaced 2.3 million from their homes, and is ranked among the world’s deadliest armed groups.
Here in this article is a brave female hunter Aisha Bakari Gombi. Also known as the queen hunter, a tittle she gained as a result of her resilience and bravery. She has continually defended her community alongside other members of her hunting band
Investigations revealed that Boko Haram’s camps are situated in the forests where Aisha grew up hunting with her father as a child.
She knows the famous Sambisa Forest off hand. It is one sacred place for hunters, so liberating it from the shackles of book haram means a lot to her
The hunters have liberated hundreds of people held captive by Boko Haram since the insurgency started. Rescuing children gives Aisha joy and she draws her motivation from there. In 2017, she became pregnant for the first time at 39. Before then Aisha had thought she couldn’t conceive, so every child she saved from Boko Haram felt like an adopted child for her.

When Aisha is not fighting Boko Haram, she relaxes in the village where she lives with her husband. Northern Nigeria is a highly patriarchal society where females are restricted to so many things and are left isolated to only taking care of the home and raising children.
Aisha’s indomitable life in recent years has taken her to places where only the brave in the heart would dare to go. The ‘’Queen Hunter’s story is fast becoming that of a superhero in northern Nigeria.
