Nollywood star, Toyin Aihmaku’s latest movie titled The Ghost and The Tout has reportedly grossed N30 million in the cinemas.
This is according to her publicist, Samuel Olatunji.
The movie, which was jointly produced by the actress and Mr. Olatunji, debuted in the cinemas on May 11.
He said, “It still feels surreal to know that we have now made over 30million in its one week of release; an incredible feat, considering the stiff competition we faced from Hollywood hits ‘Avengers’ and ‘Deadpool’. We earlier nursed fears that we might be unable to pull a decent crowd to see our movie especially since Avengers and Deadpool is a favourite. But Nigerians have shocked us.”
According to him, the movie has witnessed multiple sold out viewings in Lagos, Benin, Ibadan, Enugu, Akure and several other cinemas across the country.
The movie tells the story of Isila (Toyin Abraham), a young woman from the ghetto who encounters a ghost in need of her help to communicate with the people he left behind.
At the ghost’s request, she becomes tangled in solving a murder mystery and her life takes an interesting turn.
The roll call of actors in the movie include Racheal Okonkwo, LasisiElenu, Femi Adebayo, Sambasa Nzeribe, Josh2funny, ChiomaAkpotha, Bobrisky, Dele Odule, Chiwetalu Agwu and several others.
