Maurizio Sarri reveals why he would sign Christian Eriksen ahead of Harry Kane for Chelsea
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri admits he would prefer to sign Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen ahead of Harry Kane.
Chelsea are looking to extend their unbeaten run when they face Spurs at Wembley on Saturday evening.
Last year, Antonio Conte admitted that he wanted to sign Kane for Chelsea and hailed the 25-year-old as a ‘complete striker’.
But Sarri claims he would rather have Eriksen in his side.
‘Of course Harry Kane is the best English striker in the moment, so a very important player, but if I have to say another name, I like very much Eriksen,’ said the Chelsea manager.
‘Why? Because he is a very smart player, a very technical player. He’s able to play in midfield and, at the same moment, score eight or nine goals in a season.
‘I think that he is a very important player.
‘I like him very much, but I don’t want to talk about a player of Tottenham for the market, of course. I only answered a [hypothetical] question.’
