Beach Soccer AFCON: Super Sand Eagles Edge Tanzania, Set For Semis
The Super Sand Eagles improved their chances of reaching the semi-finals of the ongoing 2018 CAF Beach Soccer AFCON in Egypt after pipping Tanzania 4-2 in their last Group B match on Monday.
The two-time winners of the CAF Beach Soccer AFCON defeated Tanzania 4-2 in their final group game on Monday to place second in Group B with two wins and a defeat, pending the result of the other match between Senegal and Libya on Tuesday.
With Senegal and Libya to play their final group game tomorrow, Nigeria will have to wait and see what the final standings of Group B will look like.
The Super Sand Eagles lost their first game to Senegal, but bounced back to beat Libya and Tanzania in their remaining games.
The Adamu Ejo side are now one win away from qualifying for the 2019 Beach Soccer World Cup billed for Paraguay. They must first pick 2018 Beach Soccer AFCON semi-final spot and win the match to earn the ticket.
Azeez Abu, opened scoring for the Super Sand Eagles with a spinning volley in the first period. The strike was his third in the competition but Yahya Tumbo restored parity for Tanzania with a stunning strike at the start of the second period.
Goals from Emmanuel Ohwoferia and Emmanuel, Ojukwu made it 3-1 for the Super Sand Eagles, then a goal from Adil Jaruph reduced the deficit for Tanzania before Taiwo Adams sealed the victory for the Super Sand Eagles.
