Lagos Set to Host Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations

Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Deji Tinubu has declared that the state government is ready to host the 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations in Lagos.
Tinubu, who spoke at the logo unveiling press conference in Lagos, said the government is working with the Nigeria Football Federation and the Local Organising Committee to stage a hitch-free championship scheduled to hold from December 13-18 this year.
ā€œWe want people to see and to say positive things about our country,ā€ Tinubu told media.
ā€œWe see no reason why Nigeria cannot host the Beach Soccer World Cup. The capacity of Nigeria is huge, and what Samson Adamu has been doing with the COPA Lagos is tremendous. There will be something massive in December.ā€
Also speaking, NFF vice president, Seyi Akinwunmi lauded the support of governor Akinwunmi Ambode and the Federal Ministry of Sports, promising a ā€˜world classā€™ beach soccer event.
ā€œWe are committed to hosting the best ā€“ever CAF Beach Soccer Championship,ā€ Akinwunmi said.
ā€œOur tenure is on putting up a world-class event, and we believe that with the support we have received and still receiving from the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, the NFF, the Lagos state government, we will deliver.
ā€œWe are very grateful to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his decision to support the event. Nigeria 2016 will be a show ā€“stopper.
ā€œThe annual COPA Lagos Invitational Tournament, which has been on for the past five years, has shown us how interesting and how much fun beach soccer can be.ā€
Nigeria will face Egypt, Ghana and Cote dā€™Ivoire in Group A, while defending champions Madagascar will battle Libya, Morocco and Senegal in Group B.
The tournament will serves as Africaā€™s qualifying event for the 2017 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup taking place in The Bahamas.
