AKWA IBOM CHIEF JUDGE SENTENCE LAWYER TO PRISON
By Sumayyah Olapade
The Akwa Ibom State High Court presided by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ekaette Obot, has sentenced a Lagos-based lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, to one month in jail for “contemptuous and insulting behavior in court.”
She stated that the lawyer intended to use the correctional facility to cleanse himself of arrogance and dishonourable behavior that would bring the court into shame.
The court hearing Governor Udom Emmanuel’s libel action against Mr Leo Ekpenyong was on its penultimate day for the prosecution to finish its case.
