BABA-AHMED EXPLAINS WITHDRAWAL FROM KADUNA PDP GOVERNOR PRIMARY

Datti Baba-Ahmed, Labour Party’s Vice Presidential Candidate, announced on Monday that he dropped out of the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary in Kaduna State due to his “principles and stern position against vote-buying.”
The 46-year-old economist made the clarification during a news briefing on Monday at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja.
According to sources, Baba-Ahmed was forced to withdraw his governorship bid because many Kaduna delegates swore to vote against him in the PDP primary.
Disgruntled PDP delegates labeled him as a thrifty individual who seeks political office without sufficient ‘consultation’ with them and other party followers.
However, the founder of Baze University maintained that he left the PDP due to his staunch stance on not paying delegates for votes in primaries.
“On May 24, I withdrew from the Kaduna State governorship primary within the PDP due to divergent principles,” he said.
One month after leaving, Baba-Ahmed revealed that he was approached by the Labour Party, which later announced him as Obi’s running partner at the party’s Secretariat in Abuja.
He also voiced worry that a lot of impostors have taken advantage of his relationship with the LP to start many false social media accounts after discovering that he has no single active internet platform.
“On June 25, I began hearing hints of a probable calling to serve my nation again, this time under the Labour Party, which culminated in my Unveiling as the Labour Party’s Vice Presidential candidate on July 8, 2022.”
“I was interviewed by BBC Hausa shortly following the event, only to discover that the contents of that interview were misinterpreted by another social media page.” A complaint was promptly filed, and the distorted news article was eventually removed from this page, but only after significant damage had been done.
“Since rumors of my joining the Labour Party began to circulate, more impostors have rushed to register accounts in my name, most of which are misspelled or in the improper format.” “I must recognise and thank the diligence of well-meaning followers who were quick to notice and object to these accounts based on their familiarity with me,” he said.
