(JUST IN) #ENDSARS: COURT REMANDS MAN FOR ALLEGEDLY SETTING OYINGBO BRT BUS TERMINAL ABLAZE
On Thursday, an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court issued a remand order for one Chinasa Michael, who is charged with burning a BRT bus terminal at Oyingbo in Lagos in the year 2020 during a demonstration against alleged police abuses.
The defendant, 21, is on trial for conspiracy, arson, and causing a disturbance. He is unemployed and lives at No. 21, Ilogbo St., Apapa Road, Lagos.
In lieu of the defendant entering a plea, the magistrate, M.C. Ayinde, ruled that he should be held in Kirikiri Correctional Center until September 1.
Mrs. Ayinde directed that a duplicate case file be made and delivered to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) office for legal counsel.
The offenses were committed in October 2020 at the Oyingbo BRT bus terminus in Lagos, according to the prosecution’s attorney, Segun Oke.
Mr. Oke claimed that during the #EndSars protest, Mr. Michael and unidentified individuals set fire to the BRT bus terminal.
He said that the offenses were in violation of Sections 168, 343 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws from 2015.
