ABUJA RESIDENTS TO EXPERIENCE 20-MINUTE POWER OUTAGE SATURDAY

Residents in parts of Suleja and surrounding areas are expected to experience a 20-minute interruption in electricity supply on Saturday, September 26, 2026, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out planned maintenance.

TCN said the exercise is part of its annual preventive maintenance programme and will affect the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgear and other associated equipment.

The maintenance is scheduled to take place between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., during which customers in selected areas will experience a temporary power interruption.

Affected areas include Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and other surrounding communities served by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

According to TCN, the temporary outage is necessary to facilitate the transfer of electrical load from the Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to the Kubwa–Suleja Line 1.

The company explained that the transfer would allow engineers to carry out the maintenance safely while preventing a prolonged disruption to electricity supply.

TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected locations for the inconvenience the planned interruption may cause.

The transmission company said the maintenance programme is aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the national transmission network.
