Argentina’s iconic No. 10 jersey will remain unassigned during another international break following the retirement of Lionel Messi.

Head coach Lionel Scaloni has decided that no player will wear the famous shirt during the national team’s November international friendly matches.

The former world champions are scheduled to take on Uruguay during the international window.

Although friendly match regulations do not require teams to assign squad numbers consecutively from 1 to 11, Argentina’s decision to leave the No. 10 jersey vacant reflects the respect and admiration the team continues to hold for its former captain.

Scaloni and his technical crew have reportedly agreed to keep the number unused until further notice.

Messi officially retired from international football during the October international break, prompting the decision to preserve the iconic shirt associated with his legendary career.
