BENUE POLICE, PCRC LAUNCH SAFE SCHOOL PROGRAMME TO BOOST SECURITY

The Benue State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), in collaboration with the Benue State Police Command, has launched the Safe School Programme aimed at strengthening security and safety measures in schools across the state.
The initiative was launched at Government Model Secondary School, High Level, with the participation of key stakeholders in the education sector, including the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Cletus Nwandiogu.
Other participants included representatives of the Ministry of Education, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), PCRC members, school authorities, secondary school students and primary school pupils.
The programme seeks to promote security awareness within and around schools while fostering stronger collaboration between the Police, school communities and other stakeholders in protecting pupils, students, teachers and educational facilities.
According to a statement issued by the spokesman for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nwandiogu described school safety as a collective responsibility requiring the active involvement of security agencies, government institutions, school authorities, parents and communities.
The Commissioner commended the PCRC for initiating the programme and appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his support towards ensuring the initiative became a reality.
CP Nwandiogu urged pupils, students and school personnel to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and other security concerns to the Police or relevant authorities.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs Helen Nabativ, who represented the Commissioner for Education, and the Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Mrs Bibian Tyoishi, who represented the Commissioner, expressed their commitment to supporting initiatives designed to provide safe and conducive learning environments across Benue State.
The Benue State Police Command also appreciated the PCRC, Ministry of Education, SUBEB, school authorities, students, pupils and other stakeholders for their participation and support.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to deepening community policing partnerships and improving the safety and security of schools and communities across the state.
