The Defence Headquarters has confirmed an attempted unauthorised compromise of its official X account, formerly known as Twitter.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, said the incident was being treated as a cybersecurity matter, with appropriate technical measures activated to secure the account and prevent further unauthorised access.

According to Uba, efforts are ongoing to fully restore control of the account, while members of the public have been advised to disregard any suspicious, unauthorised or misleading content that may be posted during the period.

He assured Nigerians that the Defence Headquarters remains committed to maintaining high standards of information security and ensuring the public receives accurate, timely and credible information on the activities and operations of the Armed Forces.

To ensure uninterrupted communication, the DHQ urged the public to rely on its verified platforms, including its Facebook page, Defence Headquarters Nigeria, Instagram handle @defenceheadquarters, and its WhatsApp Channel, Defence Headquarters Nigeria.
