DEFENCE MINISTER DISMISSES REPORTS OF RESIGNATION

The Office of the Minister of Defence has dismissed reports claiming that the Minister, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), intends to resign from office, describing the rumours as false and malicious.
In a statement issued on Monday by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the office said reports circulating on social media and some online platforms suggesting that the Defence Minister planned to step down were “entirely fabricated” and should be disregarded.
She said, “The attention of the Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence has been drawn to a malicious and entirely fabricated rumour circulating across various online and social media platforms alleging that the Honourable Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd), has expressed an intention to step down from his position.
“We wish to state unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms that these rumours are absolute falsehood borne out of complete mischief.”
Katung-Babatunde maintained that Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities and focused on implementing the country’s defence strategy.
She added, “General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.) remains fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy with results already being seen.”
She urged members of the public to ignore the reports and cautioned media organisations and social media users against circulating unverified information.
Katung-Babatunde also advised the public to seek clarification from the minister’s office before publishing or sharing information concerning the Defence Minister.
