INEC OPENS 2026 RECRUITMENT, INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR ENTRY-LEVEL JOBS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10, and 12.

The vacancies were announced on the Commission’s recruitment portal on Monday, with applications scheduled to run from Monday, July 20, 2026, to Monday, July 27, 2026.

According to the commission, the recruitment is aimed at strengthening its capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management, election logistics, and other critical electoral operations.

The available positions include the Professional Cadre for lawyers, clinical officers, IT officers, engineers, accountants, and other professionals on Grade Levels 09, 10, and 12; Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 08; and Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 07.

For the Professional Cadre, applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, a Master’s degree in a relevant field, relevant professional certification where applicable, an NYSC discharge certificate or exemption, practical knowledge in their field, and proficiency in computer applications.

Candidates applying for the Administrative Officer II position must have a Bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or equivalent qualification; an NYSC discharge certificate or exemption; knowledge of data management and ICT tools; as well as good communication and organisational skills.

Applicants for the Executive Officer position are required to possess a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or equivalent qualification, basic computer knowledge, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under supervision.

INEC also outlined general requirements for all applicants, stating that candidates must be Nigerian citizens by birth or descent, present a valid Local Government Certificate of Origin, be computer literate and medically fit, and be 35 years old or below at the time of application.

Applicants must also have no criminal conviction, be willing to serve in any part of the country, and demonstrate integrity, discipline, and commitment to public service.

The Commission advised interested candidates to visit its recruitment portal (https://recruitment.inecnigeria.org/), click the vacancies tab, complete the online application form, upload all required credentials, and submit their applications before the deadline.

INEC emphasised that the recruitment exercise is free of charge and warned applicants not to pay anyone for the process.

It also cautioned that multiple applications would lead to automatic disqualification, recruitment would be based strictly on submitted credentials, no upgrading of qualifications would be allowed after application, and false information or forged documents would result in disqualification and possible prosecution.

The Commission added that only shortlisted candidates would be invited to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.

Applications opened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026, as stated in the recruitment notice published by INEC.
