The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to the killing of youth leader, Udu Uzor, during a violent crisis in Ekoli Edda community, Edda Local Government Area of the state.

The community had been engulfed in unrest two months ago, resulting in multiple deaths, including Uzor’s, as well as widespread destruction of property.

According to reports, some of the suspects were intercepted while attempting to flee to neighbouring Abia State in vehicles before being taken into custody.

Confirming the arrests at the Command Headquarters in Abakaliki on Wednesday, Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya, said operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit carried out the operation following weeks of painstaking investigations.

“Following the Ekoli Edda crisis which led to the murder of Udu Nnachi on July 9, 2025, our operatives arrested Amarachi Ude, Idika Ama Okoro, and Sunday Ama Olughu. The suspects will be arraigned upon conclusion of investigations,” Uche-Anya stated.

The Commissioner assured residents that the police would leave no stone unturned in bringing perpetrators to justice while working to restore lasting peace in Ekoli Edda.
