By Aishat Momoh. O.

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn in Dagogo Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff, charging them to avoid politicising their offices.
The governor administered the oath of office on Thursday, just hours after announcing their nominations, describing the appointments as a call to service rather than political patronage.
Fubara emphasised that the positions are strictly administrative and service-driven, warning the new Chief of Staff against convening unauthorised meetings or engaging in political activities without his approval. He noted that the office is primarily to serve as his personal aide and support the administration’s objectives.
He urged the new SSG, a mathematics lecturer, to deploy his academic background in ensuring diligence, objectivity and proper representation of the government in official matters.
The governor reiterated that his administration remains committed to sustaining ongoing projects and advancing inherited programmes, stressing that the overall objective is to promote peace, progress and prosperity in the state.
He cautioned that any action capable of bringing the government into disrepute would not be tolerated, assuring that the activities of the new appointees would be closely monitored.
Fubara also directed permanent secretaries who have reached retirement age but remain in office to begin preparing their handover notes.
He called for greater cooperation within the civil service, stating that the remainder of his tenure must be dedicated to productivity and collective success.
