KHUSANOV SIGNS NEW FIVE-YEAR DEAL WITH MANCHESTER CITY

Manchester City have secured the long-term future of defender Abdukodir Khusanov, with the Uzbekistan international signing a new five-year contract extension.
The 22-year-old centre-back enjoyed a successful campaign with City last season, helping the club lift the FA Cup and League Cup, while also finishing runners-up in the Premier League.
Khusanov joined the English champions from French club Lens in January 2025 and has quickly established himself as one of the club’s promising young defenders.
Internationally, he has earned 30 caps for Uzbekistan and represented his country at the FIFA World Cup, featuring in all three of their Group K matches.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Khusanov expressed his delight at extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium.
“This is a great day for me and my family. I am really happy to extend my stay at City,” he said.
The defender added that he has enjoyed his time in Manchester and believes he is continuing to develop as a player.
Khusanov also said he is eager to impress new manager Enzo Maresca and earn a regular place in the starting lineup.
“I have a new challenge now, which is to impress Enzo Maresca and his staff and ensure I am in his team regularly. I am determined to do that,” he added.
Khusanov becomes the second Manchester City player this week to commit his long-term future to the club, following Phil Foden, who recently signed a new four-year contract.
City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, praised the defender’s progress since his arrival in England.
“We’ve been really pleased and impressed by Abdukodir’s development since he arrived in England. We’re seeing him grow into a brilliant young man and an outstanding defender, but we know this is only the beginning.”
Viana added that Khusanov possesses the physical and technical qualities required to become a world-class central defender and believes his best years are still ahead of him.
