LABOUR PARTY PICKS FORMER LG CHAIRPERSON JULIANA OBETTA AS BENUE DEPUTY GOVERNORSHIP RUNNING MATE

The Labour Party (LP) has selected former Okpokwu Local Government Chairperson, Juliana Obetta Princess, as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 Benue State governorship election.

Her emergence comes just two days after the party nominated Mathias Byuan as its governorship flag bearer.

A seasoned grassroots politician, Obetta previously served as executive chairman of Okpokwu LGA and has been actively involved in community development, political mobilisation, and the campaign organisation of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking at the party secretariat in Makurdi during her unveiling, Byuan said Obetta was unanimously endorsed by party stakeholders across the state following extensive consultations.

He described her selection as part of the party’s commitment to promoting greater female participation in governance and expressed confidence that she could become Benue’s first female deputy governor in 2027.

Obetta, while accepting the nomination, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to mobilise women across the state in support of the Labour Party’s electoral ambitions.
