The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Enforcement Unit (Taskforce) has conducted a major clearance operation around the Agege under-bridge, seizing 55 commercial vehicles for illegal parking and causing obstruction.
Led by Taskforce Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, the enforcement focused on Danfo buses, Korope minibuses, and Keke Marwa tricycles that had turned the Agege roundabout on Ogba Road into an unlawful motor park.
After weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering via the agency’s “See Something, Say Something” platform, the clean-up was extended to other congested areas including Ogba, Iju, and Ishaga.
CSP Akerele expressed dismay over the repeated disregard for the law by commercial drivers, emphasizing that much of the traffic situation in Lagos is avoidable.
“Traffic gridlock in these areas is largely man-made. This operation is a clear signal that we will no longer tolerate indiscipline on our roads,” he said.
He described the enforcement as a crucial step in improving the state’s traffic management approach—one that seeks to reduce travel delays, enhance public safety, and enforce strict road discipline.
The Taskforce affirmed that similar enforcement activities will continue across Lagos to eliminate illegal motor parks and restore sanity along critical routes.
