MANCHESTER UNITED CRUISE PAST BOURNEMOUTH 4-1 IN RAIN-SOAKED SUMMER SERIES CLASH

Manchester United continued their impressive pre-season form with a commanding 4-1 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League Summer Series at Soldier Field, Chicago, on Wednesday night.
Goals from Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu, Amad Diallo, and teenage substitute Ethan Williams secured a second straight win for Ruben Amorim’s side in the four-team exhibition tournament, played in wet and blustery conditions.
United wasted no time asserting control, opening the scoring after just eight minutes. Dorgu, lively on the left flank, curled in a precise cross that was expertly headed home by his Danish compatriot Hojlund.
Dorgu then turned scorer in the 25th minute, latching onto a quickly taken free-kick from Mason Mount before muscling past a defender and slipping the ball beneath Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
Diallo added a third eight minutes after the restart, bundling the ball over the line during a goalmouth scramble. Amorim later made nine changes with 20 minutes to play, one of whom 18-year-old Ethan Williams made an immediate impact by curling a low finish into the bottom corner to make it 4-0.
Bournemouth’s consolation came late, courtesy of a Matthijs de Ligt own goal in the 88th minute the only blemish on an otherwise dominant display by the Red Devils.
In the other Premier League friendly played in Chicago, West Ham came from behind to defeat Everton 2-1. Idrissa Gueye gave Everton an early lead in the 17th minute, but West Ham struck back through Lucas Paqueta just before halftime. Niclas Füllkrug’s 64th-minute goal sealed the comeback victory.
Everton, who were also thrashed 3-0 by Bournemouth last weekend, remain winless in the Summer Series.
“I’m not overly concerned because I don’t have the players which I need and what I want,” said Everton manager David Moyes. “We knew before we came here we were going to be really up against it.”
The Summer Series concludes in Atlanta on Sunday, where Manchester United will take on Everton and West Ham will face Bournemouth.
