NAF AIRSTRIKES TARGET BANDITS MOVING FROM ZAMFARA INTO KEBBI

The Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA has conducted precision airstrikes against a large group of armed bandits reportedly moving from Zamfara State into Kebbi State, with scores of the criminals feared killed.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the development, saying the bandits were moving from Sangeko Gap in Zamfara towards Makuku in Kebbi State.

According to the report, the group comprised approximately 240 fighters divided into three formations and travelling on motorcycles towards the community.

Following credible intelligence on the movement, Nigerian Army troops and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force were deployed to intercept the advancing bandits, resulting in intense engagements in the area.

An air interdiction operation was subsequently launched after the movement of the armed group was detected.

Sources familiar with the operation said the airstrikes targeted identified concentrations of the bandits, reportedly killing scores of them and disrupting their planned advance into the area.

The air operation also provided support to ground forces engaged in the confrontation and helped prevent the bandits from advancing further into vulnerable communities.

Meanwhile, residents of some affected communities reportedly began precautionary evacuations as security forces intensified operations to contain the situation and prevent further movement by the armed group.

Zagazola Makama said a battle-damage assessment was still underway to establish the full extent of casualties inflicted on the bandits.
