ONDO SDP REMOVES STATE SECRETARY OVER ALLEGED MISCONDUCT

BY OWOLABI OLUWADARA
The Ondo State branch of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dismissed its State Secretary, Comrade Jimmy Akinyan, from his responsibilities due to purported misconduct.
This was revealed by the State Chairman of the party, Mr. Gbenga Akinbuli, during a press conference conducted in Akure, the state capital.
As per Akinbuli, a recent assembly of party stakeholders examined concerns regarding Comrade Akinyan’s behavior and determined that his actions were misaligned with the party’s values. He highlighted issues such as alleged insubordination and behaviors viewed as detrimental to the party’s interests.
To further address the situation, the party has established a five-member disciplinary committee led by the State Legal Adviser to investigate the allegations and provide recommendations regarding Akinyan’s ongoing membership.
In the meantime, Mr. Femi Ikoyi has been appointed as the Acting State Secretary of the party.
Akinbuli emphasized that this decision is part of broader initiatives aimed at ensuring discipline and repositioning the SDP as a credible opposition force in the state.
In response to his removal, Mr. Jimmy Akinyan refuted the allegations as baseless and characterized the decision as lacking substance.
In a succinct reply, he urged party members and supporters to maintain composure and focus, asserting that the SDP remains dedicated to offering a robust alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming state elections.
