TOYIN ABRAHAM ISSUES CEASE-AND-DESIST NOTICE TO BLOGGERS, CONTENT CREATORS

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has threatened legal action against individuals allegedly spreading false, misleading and defamatory claims about her on social media.
The threat was contained in a cease-and-desist notice issued on November 5, 2026, by her lawyer, Tope Salami of Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy, and addressed to members of the public, particularly bloggers, social media users, content creators and influencers.
Abraham shared the legal notice on her X handle on Thursday.
In the notice, the lawyer alleged that certain individuals had been publishing statements and allegations about the actress which were untrue, misleading and capable of damaging her professional image, personal integrity and reputation.
However, Abraham did not identify any specific individuals or disclose the particular comments considered defamatory.
The notice stated that the circulation of such claims could negatively affect the actress’s professional standing, personal reputation and goodwill.
Salami urged members of the public to desist from making, publishing, reposting or circulating statements described as false, malicious, defamatory or unverified about Abraham across social media platforms and other communication channels.
The notice also demanded the removal of existing posts, videos, comments and other online content containing allegedly false or defamatory claims about the actress.
It further warned against creating or promoting fabricated allegations, misleading narratives or content intended to ridicule, harass or damage her reputation.
The lawyer also cautioned social media users against encouraging cyberbullying, intimidation, harassment or reputational attacks targeting Abraham or her business interests.
He advised that any future commentary about the actress should be factual, responsible, fair and supported by verifiable information.
The notice warned that anyone who continued to publish, circulate, endorse or amplify false and defamatory statements could be held legally accountable and face appropriate legal proceedings.
Salami added that relevant online publications, posts, comments, videos and other digital materials could be preserved as evidence for possible legal action.
He urged the public to exercise restraint, verify information before sharing it and avoid participating in the spread of unsubstantiated claims.
Abraham, who began her acting career in the early 2000s, has featured in, produced and directed several films, including the Alakada franchise, Elevator Baby, The Prophetess and Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper.
The legal notice comes as the actress intensifies promotional activities for her upcoming cinema film, Bestie, scheduled for nationwide release on December 16, 2026.
The project follows the commercial success of her previous cinema release, Oversabi Aunty, which reportedly grossed more than ₦1 billion at the box office.
This is not the first time Abraham has taken formal steps against alleged online defamation.
In 2024, she petitioned the cybercrime unit over online abuse and false claims, leading to the arrest of at least one social media user identified as Big Ayo.
The actress later denied ordering the arrest of the individual’s mother, following rumours surrounding the incident, maintaining that she was only exercising her legal rights against persistent cyberbullying and defamatory publications targeting her and her family.
