Ojay,Bukky Wright’s Son: Davido, Wizkid Have Made Music Tough for Others
Son of Nollywood actress, Bukky Wright, Ojay, has released some couple of songs into the Nigerian market but his efforts to make a name for himself seemed not to have been forth coming but he never slowed down as he is back on track.
The singer speaking with newsmen recently in Lagos stated that after struggling to make a name for himself without depending on his mother, things were not moving well and that forced him to reveal his identity which is being the son of an actress.
In his words, “I am deliberately leveraging on my mother’s name. Initially I did not want to but things are getting really tough in the music industry especially since the new guys like Wizkid and Davido came into the picture. It is really tough for you to ‘blow’ nowadays. When I started out, I avoided using my mother’s name and I did not want to have anything to do with her when it came to my music. But when I came into the country last year, I had several meetings with public relations executives and we realized that the best thing to do is to use what you have to get what you want.”
Ojay disclosed that mentioning the name of his mother in his music has never been an issue with his father because he has been showing his support for his brand.
“I don’t think he is really bothered about the fact that I call my mother’s name in my songs. The reality is that she is my mother and he should be happy for me,” he said
