Adesua Etomi, Toyin Abraham threw light shots at each other
It all started when actors Adesua Etomi, Toyin Abraham, Patrick Doyle and Multichoice MD John Ugbe were invited to speak on the topic How Nollywood is reclaiming the market from Hollywood and the panel was moderated by journalist Seun Okinbaloye. Seun Okinbaloye, Patrick Doyle, Toyin Abraham, John Ugbe and Adesua Etomi at Nigerian Entertainment Conference After their initial statements, one of the attendees asked why most celebrities do not genuinely support upcoming stars.
Patrick Doyle took up the gauntlet and answered that support is actually being offered to upcomers in the industry this is why guilds like the Scriptwriter’s Guild exists, Directors Guild of Nigeria and the Actors Guild of Nigeria exist. Adesua then chipped in that most of these organizations do not work as they are supposed to.
Toyin Abraham then interjected and asked if Adesua was a member of any guild because she is a member of TAMPAN (formerly ANTP) and she participates in the activities of the association. Surprisingly, Adesua answered that she is not a member because the guilds are not doing what they are supposed to.
Toyin then answered she was part of the problem while joking. Adesua countered that even though she is relatively new in the industry, she trained as an actor all the years she was abroad so it’s unfounded for anyone to accuse her of doing anything wrong by not joining the guild.
After the tense exchange of words between the thespians, they hugged it out and one could see that the arguments were made in jest.
