Beach Soccer AFCON 2018: Super Sand Eagles Lose To Senegal On Penalties

The Super Sand Eagles lost 2-0 to defending champions Senegal on penalties in extra time following a 4-4 stalemate in regulation time at the ongoing CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
 
Two quick-fire strikes from Lansana Diassy saw Senegal take a two-goal lead within the opening minutes of the match.
 
Ekujumi scored a sublime free-kick to half the deficit for Nigeria at the start of the second period but, two minutes later, the two-goal advantage was restored as Mbaye Diagne struck for Senegal, who went into the third and final period with a 3-1 lead.

Taiwo Adams scored for the Sand Eagles to make it 3-2 at the start of the third period with a stunning strike past the keeper before Emeka Ogbonna leveled scores at 3-3 with a brilliant header.
 
With scores levels at 3-3, Adams bagged his brace scoring from close range but the Senegalese side snatched a late equaliser when Hamidou Barry volleyed in from close range to force penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Ndoye and Diassy converted Senegal’s kicks while and the Sand Eagles were unable to score.
Senegal will play Tanzania on Sunday as they continue their push to defend their title.
The Super Sand Eagles will face Libya in search of their first win at the Beach Soccer AFCON 2018. The game kicks off from 1.15pm Egypt time (12.15pm Nigeria time).
The Super Sand Eagles’ last group match is against Tanzania on Monday, starting from 2.30pm Egyptian time (1.30pm Nigerian time).
