The Hawaii Police Department has detained Courtney Clenney, also known as Tailor, for fatally stabbing her partner, Christian Tobechukwu Obumseli, a Nigerian.

NBC News reports that a warrant for the arrest of 26-year-old Clenney on charges of second-degree murder with a dangerous weapon was issued by the Hawaii Police Department on Wednesday.

Clenney was being treated for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder at a rehab center in Hawaii when she was picked up by authorities, according to Clenney’s lawyer, Frank Prieto.

Clenney’s arrest was shocking, according to Prieto, because of “the strong proof of self-defense in this instance.”

Tobechukwu was discovered bleeding in the couple’s Miami condominium in April after police were called.

He was transported by Miami Fire Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where a medical professional pronounced him dead.

As a result of Courtney not being charged under the Baker Act due to concerns about her mental state, the family of Obumseli has been clamoring for justice.

Using the state’s Baker Act, police in Florida have the authority to commit a person for up to 72 hours to a mental health treatment facility.

On Thursday, Clenney is anticipated to make her initial court appearance, following which she will be extradited to Florida.
