RAMADAN: SULTAN OF SOKOTO ANNOUNCES COMMENCEMENT OF RAMADAN FASTING AS MOON IS SIGHTED

The Sultan of Sokoto. Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has announced the commencement of the Ramadan month of fasting for lunar calendar year 1444AH.
The first day of fasting shall be Thursday, March 2023 (Ramadan 1, 1444AH).
Earlier, the National Moon Sighting Committee of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has announced the sighting of the moon for the commencement of the Ramadan 1444h from different parts of the country, according to the National Moon Sighting Committee.
This was made known on the NSCIA Facebook page on Wednesday evening March 22. The President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar is yet to make an official announcement.
The statement reads: The National Moon Sighting Committee is pleased to report that so far there have been numerous reports of positive sightings of the crescent of Ramadan 1444H from different parts of the country.
