The ongoing alleged sexual assault trial against Bishop Oluwafeyiropo Daniels, the Founder and senior Pastor of ‘I reign Christian Family’ church continued with the Cross-examination of the fourth Prosecuting witness who was also a former member of the church.

The 22-year old witness, while giving her evidence before Justice Ramon Oshodi, of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court narrated how Feyi Daniels had consistently threatened her with a prophecy from his Spiritual Father known as Prophet Adeoye.

The Prophecy given to her by the Prophet, according to the witness was that, she would travel out of the country a year and three months after he visited the church after Covid Pandemic, while giving the reasons for her traveling was because of the way she stood by her spiritual father in his trying times.

She said, “Feyi Daniels would threaten and curse me, saying i cannot fulfil my destiny because i was not giving in to his demands. I was so manipulated and scared of this curses.

During the Cross-examination lead by the defense counsel, Adebayo Adegbite, who asked if she knew that offerings, donations made by members including herself is not personally for the defendant but for the church.

She said, “I don’t know about that. We were made to believe that with giving to our man of God, we are giving back to God. I was a member of a church before i joined ‘I Reign’ and in my former church, i pay offering but I don’t give tithes.

Adegbite asked again, “In your statement to the Police and evidence to the court, you said that you gave the defendant money. Do you have any Proof?”

“I gave him some money. I don’t have any proof but his wife is aware of it.” She said.

The counsel asked again, “The times you visited the defendant at his house, did he make any passes at you?”.

She replied, “The first two times i visited, i didn’t stay for twenty-four hours but, the third time, i spent two nights and it was then i met Pastor David and PW1. He didn’t make any passes at me when i was his house. He did all those things in his office in church.”

She further explained that the defendant assaulted her more than once in his church office and she could not report it because she was scared of his curses and he had also threatened to tell the other church members that she was trying to force herself on him.

“He told me to go naked in his office, pinned me into his legs and started sucking my breasts. I didn’t scream for help but i struggled. There was no way i could have screamed because he said, he was going to tell people that i was forcing myself on him. There was nothing more that i could have done at that point after the threat.

I didn’t write all this in my statement because i was trying to be brief. ”

During re-examination by the prosecution, Mr. Babajide Boye, she was asked why she gave money to the defendant and the reason why she closed her account.

She simply said, “I was asked to close my account so as to help my finances and my family’s situation. So, i gave him the form in church”.

Recall that during the last sitting, this same witness had narrated to the court how she met the Bishop and what transpired between them before she left the church in 2021.

Meanwhile, there was a fifth witness in court, identified as Dr. Olorunnimbe Akinoye, a medical director of First City Hospital Lekki.

The medical practitioner, who has been in the system for about 43-years, informed the court on the process a patient would have to go through before they are allowed to see the doctors at his facility, while also mentioning that visitors don’t have to sign any register when visiting his hospital.

“When patient comes in, they get registered. If they are old patients, we bring out their cards but if they are new, they are issued new cards before proceeding to take the vital signs. Afterwards, they see the doctors who check them and then administer medication to them as the case may be.

Between 2019 and 2022, Dr. Clementina Adetoun, and i knew she was a christian but i don’t know the church she attends. She left in 2021. Before leaving, she didn’t have any criminal records with us.

I don’t have any record of any visitor who visited her when she was with us and since she left i have not seen her.”

During cross-examination, he told the court that, he was aware of the case because the police informed him.

“The police said the Bishop of the Church brought in somebody. I don’t know the name of the visitors. We don’t keep visitors records.

After his cross-examination, the defense counsel requested that the court grant his client temporary release from custody.

Justice Oshodi responded that the request will be looked into on the next adjourned date.

He however adjourned the matter to July 14th for Continuation of Trial.
