Former Super Eagles winger, Sone Aluko has announced his retirement from football.

Auko, 35, announced his retirement from the round leather game during Ipswich Town end of the season dinner

“I couldn’t think of a better place to end my career,” he said.

“From top to bottom the Club is amazing, and it has been a privilege to be here. I’ve not played as much as I would have liked, but this has still been the best year of my career.

“All of the lads, I love every one of you, even you, Harry Clarke (Ipswich manager who gave him little game time).”

Aluko enjoyed an eventful career that saw him play for clubs like Rangers, Aberdeen, Hull City, Fulham and Reading.

He also had a loan stint in China with Beijing Renhe.

The talented winger represented England at youth level before switching international allegiance to Nigeria.

He scored twice in seven appearances for the Super Eagles.
